The Lorax Gallery

I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees...

As you can imagine I had a lot of fun doing this photoshoot and I look forward to doing many more!

A Bit About The Lorax

The Lorax is a brilliant book by Dr. Seuss about how humans and industry destroy the natural environment and The Lorax himself is a climate activist that 'speaks for the trees' and tries to warn the humans of the damage they are causing.

In 1972 the book was turned into a TV special and later in 2012 was made into a movie.

The Movie (SPOILERS)

The story follows a young man known as The Once-ler, that is on an adventure to find a material that he can use to produce the 'thneed' a garment that can be used for many things.

Eventually he stumbles on Truffula trees that have silk live foliage that he decides is perfect. He then chops down one of the trees and continues on to make his Thneed.

Well, cutting down the tree awakens the creature known as The Lorax. He speaks for the trees and is angry that the Once-ler has cut one down and tries to warns him of what could happen if he were to continue on this path.

The Once-ler does not heed the warning and begins selling the Thneeds and they soon become so popular that his entire family come to help him produce them to meet the great demand. A large factory and equipment is called for to chop down the trees faster which leads to pollution in the air, water and land. Eventually the Thneed company cut down the last ever tree and The Lorax comes to explain that the environment is completely destroyed and no creatures can now live there as they have no homes or water or food.

With the last tree gone, the Thneed factory was forced to shut down and the The Lorax, sadly with one last glance ascends into the sky leaving the word 'UNLESS' imprinted onto the rocks behind him.

The Once-ler then punishes himself by remaining in exile pondering the message for years until a young boy comes to find out about trees. It is then that the Once-ler realises the meaning of the message and he gives the last Truffula seed to the boy to plant and begin a new.

UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.
