About The Self Care Campaign
This self care campaign has been created to encourage people to share their own methods of self care that they use to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
Positive lifestyle changes along with regular self care techniques can help to maintain a happy and healthy mental health system, combat stress, reduce anxiety and in some cases help to prevent problems from developing or worsening.
With 1 in 4 people suffering from some form of mental health problem it is now more important than ever for us to set aside time for ourselves to relax and unwind. Taking time to do something we love and focusing on our own wellbeing is the first step to promoting a stable and wholesome relationship with our mental health.
Those involved in the campaign are sharing their favourite pamper and self care methods that make them feel good and help them to feel rested and rejuvenated.
Self Care
Definition - The practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health.
When we don't take care of ourselves and don't take time to rest we can seriously put our health at risk. Often feeling stressed and drained is a result of over exertion and failure to take a break.
By setting time aside for valuable personal care we give our bodies a chance to decompress and our minds a much needed break from stresses of a troubling world.
Here's Some Relaxation and Pamper Ideas:
1. Spend time outdoors! Studies have shown that just 10minutes outdoors can improve your mood.
2. Take a hot shower or bubble bath.
3. Settle down with a good book/podcast or magazine.
4. Get creative!
5. Unplug from social media for a few hours.
6. Take a quick nap!
7. Set aside time to exercise.
8. Take some time to do something you love!
My Self Care
My go to self care methods are always based around creativity and music. I put on my favourite playlist and either sketch a new design or start upcycling an old outfit.
Personally I find tie-dying and embroidery the most relaxing hobbies and could spend hours practising the crafts!
Day to day I enjoy the more simple things like taking a bubble bath or doing a facemask while watching a favourite show or snuggling up with a good book.
